About Golden 8 Ball

We have developed the 'Golden 8 Ball Award' to help licensees reach higher standards in pool and to be recognised for their achievement.

Invest More to Get More

Licensees can apply for the award if their facilities currently meet the guidelines set out below. Alternatively, licensees can join the scheme through an official 'Golden 8 Ball Operator' and receive the best facilities and service available in return for a fair rent.

Pubs that hold this award will be highlighted within the Pool Pockets website as superior pool venues and will be listed at the top of all searches. Players will be encouraged to visit these venues to get a more enjoyable game.

Golden 8 Ball pubs will receive promotional merchandise such as posters, a 'Golden 8 Ball' ball, branded racking cloth, window stickers, chalk etc to help promote their status.

Venues must adhere to the following conditions to qualify:

Quality manufactured table, correctly levelled and in good condition.

• SAM Leisure UK
• Original Superleague Table

Quality UK manufactured cloth, in good condition and well maintained.

• Hainsworth Smart
• Hainsworth Match
• West of England 6811

Quality pool balls, in good condition.

• Aramith Premier
• Aramith Standard

Quality cues with 9 to 10mm tips, available to all players.

• Standard Rammin cues are not acceptable.

Good table lighting.

• All light bulbs are working
• Lights set to correct height

Quality American chalk made available to all players.

• Master Chalk
• Silver Cup
• Triangle

Tables & equipment kept in good condition

• Ironed every two weeks
• Brushed every few days
• Table, cloth and accessories must be kept in good condition and replaces when required.

Venue must offer regular pool activity such as.

• In-house Tournaments
• Fun Pool Events
• Leagues
• Promotions - i.e. free pool on Tuesdays
• Tournaments

If you are interested in becoming a 'Golden 8 Ball' operator please contact us. It is our policy that Golden 8 Ball operators are paid a fair rent for their services in return for supplying best quality facilities and service. You will be listed in our directory of approved 'Golden 8 Ball' operators and will be made available to licensees wanting to join the scheme.
